‘Mini Book Haul’- even though I promised myself no more books.

Recently I just underwent an enormous book cleansing session where I threw out any books that I would not read again, recommend to a friend or had double ups of. I felt lighter and more refreshed after doing this cleanse, even when I thought I would feel sad letting go of my books. One of the purposes of doing this cleanse was to realise the books I already had and read through them before purchasing new books. For the sake of clutter and also my bank account. Just recently I broke my #bookfast and purchased a copy of Nicholas Sparks’ ‘The Longest Ride.’ Unfortunately for me, I fell under yet another spell of reckless book buying. And dear reader, I have no regrets.  I didn’t really last that long at resisting to buy new books, but these pretty reads I just had to have!

🍵Red Queen- Victoria Averyard Oh wow, I know you shouldn’t judge a book by it’s cover, but check out the image on the front of this book!! It is so aesthetically pleasing with it’s simplicity that it draws me right in. I have been walking past this book in stores for weeks and I finally hardened up and bought myself a copy. This book centres around seventeen year old Mare Barrow is caught in a dystopian realm of red and silver bloods. Immediately I am thinking of the ‘Noughts and Crosses’ Trilogy with the distinction between classes. As I am writing this post, I have had to pull myself away from ‘Red Queen’ because in the first 50 pages of this read, so much drama is beginning to unfold! The story contains elements of fantasy, science fiction and contemporary writing styles so I am so excited to keep reading!

I have been invited to participate in a #readalong with two other instagram accounts with this book. Myself and the two other accounts are planning to update each other on how we are enjoying the book! I am super excited about connecting with other readers out there! You can follow all the updates on my instagram feed @missbookdependent

🍵Eleanor and Park- Rainbow Rowell I have two things to begin with. The first thing is how cool is that the author’s name is Rainbow. Already I know this woman will have literary sass and I want to read more of her books. And secondly, I have seen all her books plastered over social media outlets and I have never thought to purchase them for myself. I am very late on the Rainbow Rowell bandwagon, but am so excited to read her stories. A big selling point for me with this book was the recommendation from John Green on the front cover: ‘Reminded me not just what it’s like to be young and in love with a girl, but also what it’s like to be young and in love with a book.’ John Green is just the literary king of all realms and I fully succumbed to his kind words on the story. Rowell’s tale of ‘Eleanor and Park follows the classic scenario of new girl meets rebel boy and I am excited to see the elements that Rainbow will play around with! I haven’t started this book yet and refuse to read any reviews on it so nothing is spoiled for me. The last time I felt this excited about a new love story was when I read ‘The Fault in Our Stars.’ I love reading a book that everyone is talking about, but know nothing about it for myself.

🍵Air Kisses- Zoë Foster I am the biggest fan of anything and everything that one Miss Zoë Foster Blake touches. I was browsing through Book Depository the other week and stumbled across this cracker read ‘Air Kisses.’ It was the first book published by Zoë and it will be the first of her books I have read for myself! (I have read sections of ‘Textbook Romance’ that she writs with her husband Hamish and it was hilarious!) To me this story seems like an upbeat read to read during busy and bustling times. I am such a fan of Zoë’s quick wit in her articles and website that I just know I am going to love this! I am so excited to read these books and discover what they are all about!

What are some books that you dear reader have collected in recent hauls?

Happy Reading,

Miss Book Dependent xo

  1. I swore that I wouldn’t buy anymore books. I have ones I haven’t read yet and promised my bowing book shelves that I would read the unread before buying more, but that didn’t last long. I went out and bought A Sudden Light by Garth Stein, All the light we cannot See by Anthony Doerr and The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt! I’m sure I’ll find room somewhere…
